This weekend also happened to boast a bevy of fun FREEBIES to keep us busy, happy and socializing with our friends and neighbours.
On Saturday between their lessons, the kids wanted to make Valentines for their classmates. From year to year we waffle between buying the standard commercialized box or entertaining grandiose plans of elaborate homemade Valentine's – while really sweet does take quite an amount of time and the craft supplies do add up. This year I decided to take a look online and see what we could find that would be somewhat original and not so time-consuming.
I lucked out and found some really cute printables that some lovely and generous crafty people had posted for public domain. I know it's a bit late but if you haven't gone down that road yet (or to keep in mind for next year) here's a couple good sites to check out: Alphamom and Amy is the Party.
And today, we enjoyed a scrumptious complimentary pancake lunch after church followed by tobogganing and a family skating party at our local park. The community centre hosted the annual party complete with free hot chocolate, coffee, homemade baked goods, music, races, crazy scarf contests and more. It was great fun and we were joined by a number of friends – old and new. So in the end, the snow didn't squash any plans after all but provided an awesome backdrop to some fresh and wholesome fun!
